Our Mission

Why we exist and whom we serve.

Our Vision

Where we're headed and what we believe is possible.

Our Goals

The commitments that guide how we grow and improve.

A-FITS exists to create an educational environment that adapts to the learner—supporting academics, communication, independence, social development, and preparation for the future.

Our Mission

The mission of Autism F.I.T.S. Academy is to provide students with autism with an individualized, accessible, and meaningful education that recognizes their strengths, responds to their unique learning and support needs, and prepares them for greater independence and a successful future.

Through individualized academics, integrated support, social-emotional development, life skills, and authentic school experiences, we create an environment where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and belong.

Our Vision

Our vision is to redefine what an autism-centered education can be.

We envision schools where students are not expected to conform to a predetermined model of learning, but where education adapts to the learner.

A-FITS seeks to create school communities where academic growth and personal development occur together; where communication, sensory needs, behavior, social development, and independence are understood as part of the whole student; and where each child is given meaningful opportunities to discover their strengths and develop their potential.

Our vision extends beyond success in the classroom. We want every A-FITS student to leave us better prepared to communicate, advocate for themselves, build relationships, participate in their community, pursue their interests, and live as independently and meaningfully as possible.

Our Goals

Our goals translate our mission and vision into the work we do every day.

1. Individualize Education

Provide each student with an educational program designed around their academic abilities, learning profile, communication, sensory needs, interests, strengths, and goals through individualized instruction, differentiated teaching, accessible curriculum, Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), and meaningful progress monitoring.

2. Educate the Whole Student

Recognize that academic achievement is only one component of student success. A-FITS integrates academics with communication, social-emotional learning, executive functioning, sensory regulation, behavioral support, self-advocacy, independence, and life skills.

3. Integrate Support Into Learning

Create a school environment where Speech, Occupational Therapy, School Based ABA, sensory integration, and educational supports work together rather than existing as isolated services.

4. Build Communication, Confidence & Self-Advocacy

Help students develop meaningful ways to communicate, understand their own needs, make choices, solve problems, ask for assistance, and increasingly advocate for themselves.

5. Create Belonging

Give students with autism the opportunity to experience everything that makes school meaningful—friendships, clubs, electives, art, recreation, field experiences, celebrations, social events, accomplishments, challenges, and laughter.

6. Develop Independence & Life Skills

Intentionally develop practical skills students can use across school, home, community, and eventually adult life.

7. Prepare Students for What Comes Next

Begin transition thinking early and continually connect education with the student's future through self-advocacy, daily living skills, community participation, vocational exploration, career interests, transition planning, and preparation for adulthood.

8. Partner With Families & Community

Recognize parents and caregivers as essential partners in understanding the student through open communication, meaningful collaboration, and relationships built on mutual respect. Whenever appropriate, connect learning with home, community, recreation, work, and other real-world environments so students have opportunities to use skills beyond the classroom.

9. Maintain High Expectations With Individualized Support

An autism diagnosis should inform how we educate a student, not determine the limits of what we believe that student can accomplish.

10. Continuously Improve

As a Cognia-accredited school, A-FITS is committed to reflection, measurable improvement, professional development, responsible leadership, and the continued evolution of our educational model.

The A-FITS Commitment: We don't begin by asking whether a child can fit into our school. We begin by asking what our school needs to do to FIT the child.
Same Potential. Different Path. Brighter Futures.
