The first 30 days at A-FITS are intentionally designed to help our team understand the student before assuming what their educational program should look like.
When a student begins at A-FITS, teachers, Speech, OT, behavioral staff, school leadership, and the family work together to develop a clearer picture of the student's strengths, needs, communication, regulation, academic performance, independence, and goals.
We review existing educational records—including IEP, MET/evaluation information, and relevant reports—while also observing the student in the environment where learning will actually occur.
The first phase is about learning who the student is before making assumptions about what they need.
Once the student is becoming familiar with A-FITS, we begin establishing a clearer baseline across the areas that affect school success.
The team brings the information together and begins formalizing the student's individualized A-FITS educational program.
The Individualized Learning Plan is not meant to sit in a file. It becomes a working framework for the student's educational program.
Teachers and support staff implement the plan, collect information, monitor progress, collaborate with the family, and adjust instruction or supports as the student grows.
Our formal assessment window can extend to 45 days when a student needs additional time, data, or observation. In most cases, however, our team is able to establish the initial program framework within approximately 30 days.
